CREDITON Twinning Association organised at Pig Racing Evening on March 19, which was held at the Masonic Hall, Crediton and attended by about 80 people.
The Baker Family (Bill and Linda) of Pig Racing Stables provided an exciting and enjoyable event with six races sponsored by amongst others Kirton Metalcraft, Chinn’s Sausages, Club Crediton and the Three Little Pigs.
The entrance ticket included a meal of sausages and mash, enjoyed by all, with an option of onion gravy and sauce and was prepared by Lorraine Wood and Margaret Philips.
There was a steady stream of “punters” at the Tote table where Paul Brewer and Clive Rowlands assisted head Tote operator Linda Baker and the successful ones enjoyed a modest payout on the night.
A raffle organised by Pat Sherwood proved very popular and added to the income. Support from members of the Crediton “Friends of FORCE” was appreciated.
The bar was staffed primarily by Valerie Brewer and Paul Evans with further help from Marion Evans. Peter Brewer was MC and provided commentary on each of the races.
The final race gave an opportunity to buy a pig on the night with the successful owner receiving 50 per cent of the purchase income.
Jenni Pitts thanked everyone for supporting the event and her team who had worked so hard to make it a success. She then presented Bill and Linda Baker with a gift in appreciation for their support.
