CREDITON Town Council is taking the lead and is organising a Health and Well-Being Open Day, which will be held at the Boniface Centre in Crediton on Wednesday, April 25.
Mrs Clare Dalley, Crediton Town Clerk, explained: “The purpose of the open day is to showcase the excellent range of health and well-being services available to residents of Crediton and the surrounding area.
“It will give residents an opportunity to meet experts and volunteers committed to helping people improve their health and well-being and support people to live happier, healthier lives.”
She explained that there will be practical and positive demonstrations of the service(s) from a range of organisations.
Mrs Dalley added: “It is hoped that all areas of the health and well-being spectrum will be represented including the NHS, care homes, social care, occupational therapists, voluntary groups and organisations.”
The open day will begin at 10.30am and end at 7pm.
Beginning at 7pm will be a talk with guest speaker, Dr David Jenner, entitled: “What does current NHS policy mean for the people of Crediton and environs?”
Dr Jenner, a GP from Cullompton, was a founder member of the Mid Devon Doctors’ Commissioning Group in 1993 and was its chair through its evolution from Locality Commissioning Group, through GP commissioning pilot in 1998, to Primary Care group (PCG) in 1999.
He was Mid Devon PCG chairman from 1999-2001 and then Professional Executive Committee Chair of the Mid-Devon Primary Care Trust until September 2003.
From November 2007 to April 2013 he was the Mid Devon PBC consortium lead and was most recently the Eastern Locality Chair and Board Member of NEW Devon CCG (the largest CCG in the country).
