CREDITON Town Council has received £3,840.44 in funding from the National Lottery Big Lottery Fund towards its Allotment Access Path Project.

The council is using the funding to complete works at the lower entrance to the Exhibition Road allotments in the town.

This includes installing a dropped kerb, widening the access gate and installing a path within the allotment site to enable better access for people living with disabilities.

The funding will provide a safe and accessible environment for all members of the community.

Crediton Town Clerk, Mrs Clare Dalley, said: “The Town Council is delighted this much-needed project can proceed, thanks to the funding received from the Awards For All, Big Lottery Fund.

“This will provide the opportunity for Crediton residents with mobility issues to rent a local allotment.”

Other local recipients of funding in the latest round of 183 projects in the South West sharing £3,200,584 include Great Torrington and District Community Development Trust which receives £10,000 towards Disabled Access and Equipment for the Castle Community Centre.
