THE Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Frank Letch, has thanked, on behalf of Crediton Town Council, the many charities and organisations that contribute to the life and vibrancy of the town.
Crediton Town Council was forced to cancel its annual End of Term reception but the council has still been able to send cheques to a number of the town organisations and charities which would normally be presented at the reception.
Cllr Letch told the “Courier”: “One of the great pleasures of being a Councillor is to award grants to those deserving charities, community groups and organisations who do so much for the town.
“Since I have been the Mayor the amount of grants has more than doubled and is now over £27,000.”
Recipient organisations and the amount they have received are: Age Concern Crediton £1,000, Boniface Trail Association £400, Crediton Arts Centre (Busk It) £800, Churches Housing Action Team £1,500, Torridge, North Devon and Mid Devon Citizens’ Advice £3,000, Crediton Operatic and Dramatic Society (CODS) £500, Crediton and District Access Group £200, Crediton Area History and Museum Society £1,000, Crediton Arts Centre £1,000, Crediton Arts Centre (Hound Project) £1,000, Crediton Congregational Church £400, Crediton Town Team (Flag Project) £1,000, Crediton Food and Drink Festival £1,000, Crediton Rugby Football Club £850, Crediton Talking Newspaper £350, Crediton Town Band £500, Crediton Town Team £1,000, Friends of Crediton Station £500, Involve Mid Devon £1,290, Journey Therapeutic Counselling Service £250, Mid Devon Mobility £1,500, Crediton Parish Church £160, Significant Seams CIC (Upcycling Prog.) £1,132, Significant Seams CIC (Well-being Prog.) £1,644, St Boniface Concert Society £300, Sustainable Crediton £1,500, The Turning Tides Project £1,000, Friends of Crediton Library £750, North Creedy Choral Society £500 and Unite Carers in Mid Devon £1,000.
