CREDITON Town Council’s Climate Change and Sustainability sub-Committee will be meeting at 7.15pm at the Old Landscore School, Greenway, Crediton on Monday, January 13, to make plans for activities during the next year.
Already the group is planning a community event on Saturday, February 15, and more details about this will be publicised during the next few weeks.
Anyone who is interested in the issues can attend a sub-committee meeting.
Members of local groups have already volunteered to be representatives on the group and there are a few more places to be filled, which will be done at the meeting next Monday.
Representatives from community organisations and the town council will tell the meeting about the work they already do and their plans for the future.
The council says that in this way, everyone’s efforts can be co-ordinated to maximum effect.
The Town Council is a signatory to the Devon Climate Declaration which was made by Devon County Council last year. The County Council is taking steps to tackle the problems that all residents are facing and will face increasingly in coming years.
All the information can be found at: www.devonclimateemergency.org.uk .
The council is keen to hear from local communities about what they are already doing, what they plan to do and how the county council can help.
Ideas from Crediton, like every other town and village, are needed.
Anyone who wants to be involved is invited to attend the next meeting on January 13, the event on February 15 and others that are planned during the year.
