TO mark the start of CredFest 19, the town centre has been decorated this week with 68 colourful, handmade flags, each one designed by a local business or community group. The Crediton Flag Project is now in its 7th year, with new flags being added to the collection each year to celebrate the town’s creativity.

Flag making workshops, led by local artist Charlotte Turner, were run at Crediton Arts Centre throughout May, when seven new flags were made and many of the older flags were repaired.

A team of volunteer seamstresses helped to make and repair the flags, while another team of local traders helped install them.

The project is coordinated by Crediton Town Team and funded by Crediton Town Council.

Admired by locals and visitors, the flags don’t just brighten up the High Street, but have a more serious purpose of increasing footfall and trade in the town.
