AFTER 16 years of service, the current Musical Director at Crediton Town Band, Chris Richards, has taken the decision to stand down.

The band has enjoyed playing under the baton of Chris throughout that time, during which he has improved the overall playing performance of the band immensely.

Crediton Town Band is a friendly, non-contesting all-ability band, which plays at various engagements throughout the year in support of the local community.

The vacancy will arise in March, but this can be flexible to suit a new applicant.

Band member Eric Parkes said: “The band will always be grateful to Chris for his efforts on behalf of everyone.

“We hope that Chris will be able to re-join the band at some time in the future as a player.”

In addition, the band would also welcome cornet players.

The band rehearses on Wednesdays, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton.
