A CREDITON student is celebrating after achieving First Class Honours in her university degree.
Sophie Tapp, of People’s Park Road, has just completed a BA (Hons) in Human Geography and Business Management at the University of Worcester.
“I am proud to have achieved not only my First Class Honours but everything I have accomplished throughout my time at university, said the 21-year-old.
“It has been hard work, and it’s amazing to have achieved so much, which I believe is a true and accurate reflection of the effort that has been put in.”
Sophie set up the University of Worcester Fencing Club during her time at the University, gaining financial support from Sport England. The Club was named University Club of the Year at the British Fencing Annual Awards.
“In addition, at the Worcester Students’ Union’s Colours Ball, I was recognised for my work on behalf of the Club, being awarded Administrator of the Year,” said the former Queen Elizabeth’s Community College pupil. “The Club was also shortlisted for Club of the Year there.”
Sophie herself was also awarded a Gold Worcester Award earlier this year, in recognition of her commitment to volunteering and personal development throughout her time at university.
“Choosing to study at the University of Worcester was the best decision I could have made,” she said. “I’ve had an amazing three years, which I have thoroughly enjoyed and made friends for life.”
Sophie is due to start a Masters in Sustainability and Consultancy at the University of Leeds in September.
“I aspire to work in the sustainability sector,” she said. “I would like to make contributions to the world that leaves it in a better position.”
The University of Worcester has places available for well-qualified applicants through Clearing this year.
The Clearing hotline – 01905 855111 – is now open for those collecting BTEC results and Access qualifications and will remain open as A-level results are released on Thursday, August 17.
