LOCAL music lovers and concert goers are encouraged to Sing Away Those Referendum Blues in a special concert to be held at Shobrooke Parish Church on Saturday, July 2 at 7pm.
“With admission just £1 you can’t go wrong,” says Crediton Singers Musical Director Tim Matthews who is very upbeat about the forthcoming concert.
“We talked about a world tour of course but we thought it would be more fun to do a tour of local villages so we are starting in Shobrooke.
“There are lots of concerts in the town but hardly any in our beautiful villages so we’re looking forward to our first concert in St Swithun’s.
“By holding admission prices down and maintaining a high standard in music we are making great concerts accessible to everyone.”
Local top talents including pianist Daniel Toll, harpist Izzy Kingsley, singers Lucy Wallace and Sophie Brockway and pianist Megan Hunter will join the Crediton Singers on the night.
The choir, which has grown in number to 25, will be singing popular music by “Take That” and “The Beatles”, classic anthems, gospel hits and much more.
“In the final part of the concert we are inviting the audience to sing selections from The Sound of Music. Hopefully we’ll get everyone to sing more than just the Do-Re-Mi chorus!” adds Tim.
“But learning and re-learning the songs from the musical has been great fun. We’ve had a great time in rehearsals and I’m sure the audience will have a great time too.”
This year’s chosen charity for the Crediton Singers is local - the FORCE Cancer Charity. Proceeds from this event and others will be sent to FORCE towards the end of the year.
All are welcome to attend the concert and refreshments will be available throughout the evening. For further information please telephone Marie on 01363 898047.
