THE choir Crediton Singers is now three years-old and has raised thousands of pounds for local charities including FORCE, Balloons, and Hospiscare.

The Singers are now planning their biggest event yet, a Christmas Spectacular at Crediton Parish Church to be held on Saturday, December 16, at 4.30pm.

Musical Director Tim Matthews will lead not only Crediton Singers but also his choir from South Devon, the Alvington Singers, as well as the newly-reformed Crediton Juniors (ages eight years upwards) who are also preparing their songs for the event.

"It’s going to be great. We’re singing pop songs, Gospel hits, seasonal music and a Christmas Cantata by the composer Alan Bullard based on Bible readings and popular carols," says Tim, who added: “We’re encouraging local people to come and join us and sing with us.

“We have an orientation programme for new singers and it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been in a choir before as long as you’re ready to give it 100 per cent.

“Our first get together for the new term is on Monday, September 11 at Crediton United Football Club starting at 7pm. All are welcome to try us out. It would be great to see you there."

Tim added: "It’s not just singing, it’s a growing family, and we have cake too.”
