LINDA Buckle was the guest speaker at the June meeting for the Crediton and Area Devon Senior Voice group (DSV).
Linda facilitates gentle movement classes for the over 50’s and explained that the FL in the name of her movement classes (FLexercise) stood for Fitness League, a health and well-being organisation started back in the 1930s by Mary Bagot-Stack following a trip to Japan.
Bagot-Stack noted that very few people had back problems in Japan and concluded it was because they practised Chi daily.
On returning to the UK she designed a movement loosely based on that system, which Linda demonstrated to the DSV group.
Linda holds FLexercise classes at 2pm-3pm at the Moose Hall, Bowden Hill, Crediton, every Thursday afternoon. She was warmly thanked by Chair, Carole Towler.
The July speaker will be local Osteopath, Chris Bury, who will talk about his work with clients who are over 50. All over 50s welcome.
Following Linda’s talk the monthly committee meeting took place when it was announced there would be no meeting in August and future meetings will be in the communal rooms at Housing and Care 21, Clifford Gardens, the first one being at 2pm, on Wednesday, September 12.
