The five year-old-tree was planted near the Scout Garden by the Cubs last December, helped by the Beavers, Scouts and Leaders to commemorate 100 years of the Cubs.
Part of the centenary year 100 challenges was for the Cubs to plant an oak tree on the anniversary.
The tree was sponsored by Ian Stoyle of Crediton who dedicated the tree to his grandson, Stanley.
Assistant District Commissioner George Davey placed the wooden post containing the plaque in the ground next to the tree.
The plaque, made by Steve Rowe, the grandad of Scout Louie Gregory, reads "Planted to commemorate 100 years of Cub Scouts 1916 - 2016".
A number of Leaders, Scouts, Beavers, Cubs and parents supported the placing of the plaque.
