AFTER learning about homelessness in their religious education and personal, social, health and economic classes at Hayward’s Primary School, Year Six pupils were not content with simply donating food goods as part of their harvest festival (where they were visited by Gill from St Petrock’s, Exeter), they wanted to do more. This led them to run, independently, a coffee and tea stall from 8.30am to 9am each morning for two weeks. In order to raise even more money, several children also baked cakes at home and took them along to sell during the mornings. The pupils raised enough money to buy 100 pairs of socks - two pairs per child in Y6 - plus four sleeping sets (sleeping bag, roll mat and Thermos flask) to donate to the shelter.
