A CREDITON man has won £1 million on the Euro Lottery.

The man was the single UK Millionaire Maker Euro Lottery prizewinner for the lottery draw on Tuesday, February 2.

His ticket bore the winning code QBD 711 428.

Nick Ashweek, manager, Evans Newsagents, in Crediton High Street, said: "The customer asked us to check his ticket on Tuesday afternoon (February 16) and we were pleased to be able to tell him that he was the UK Millionaire Maker Euro Lottery prizewinner.

"Our Lottery ticket machine advised us ’You cannot pay prize, please ask the customer to contact the Lottery telephone line’ and looking at the draw numbers we soon worked out what he had won.

"He is a well-known Crediton person who always buys his Lottery ticket here every Tuesday and Friday.

"It is absolutely brilliant and the win could not go to a nicer person.

"It is amazing that he has been carrying around his prizewinning ticket for two weeks and not cashed it in."

Paul Conabeare, who runs Evans Newsagents with his wife, Tara, who is chairman of Crediton Chamber of Commerce, said: "It is nice to have a winner from the local community, a Crediton person, a really nice guy.

"Like Nick said, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

"Evans Newsagents is pleased to have sold him his winning ticket.

I would encourage everyone to come and buy their winning Lottery tickets here."

Nick added: "Only the other day member of staff Wendy Snell asked what would we do if someone won a really big prize on the Lottery, and now we know.

"She has been really excited at the thought that she could have been the one who sold the winning ticket."

On February 2 there were no UK Jackpot winners and the Jackpot winning ticket was purchased from Spain.
