CREDITON Lions last week presented a cheque for £500 to local care charity, Hospiscare, the result of a bucket collection during three days at the end of November and beginning of December.

The cheque was presented by the Lions Club President Hazel Evely, who thanked shoppers at the Crediton Morrisons store for donating £460 towards the total which was rounded up by the Lions.

The cheque was received by the charity fundraiser Denise Hook and Shirley Buckingham, Crediton Hospiscare shop manager.

Denise said: “This is a fantastic sum of money for us. It will help us continue our work to help people.”

Hospiscare supports people aged 18 and over with life-limiting illnesses across the heart of Devon.

On Saturday, February 26, teams of up to six people are invited to take part in a Charity Quiz and Pie Night in aid of Hospiscare.

It will take place at Thorne’s Farm Shop, Stockleigh Pomeroy.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and it will be “pen to paper” at 7pm.

Booking is essential and the cost is £8.50 per person (includes pie supper and quiz). A bar will be open.
