AN ESTIMATED quarter of a million tonnes of soil will be excavated and 800 metres of carriageway, cycleway and footpath laid, complete with associated works, including drainage works as part of the £8.5 million Crediton Link Road, currently under construction.
The road will be from the Wellparks roundabout to the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate and is, weather permitting, due for completion by late August 2014.
There will be limited modification works on the A377 which South West Highways, working for Devon County Council, say will be undertaken with full traffic management to minimise disruption to local residents and the travelling public.
SWH say that the Common Marsh area of Crediton and also the Exhibition roundabout (which will be remodelled) will require road closures and associated diversions, starting in early 2014.
SWH say they will try to maintain access to properties at all times and keep any inconvenience to a minimum, but adds some interruption may be unavoidable.
"All businesses and residents will be advised well in advance of the commencement of any road closures," say SWH.
