THE Third Crediton Guides welcomed David Beazley, foraging expert and the author of e-book “The Forager’s Apprentice” to their penultimate meeting of the summer term.
He walked with them down to Shobrooke Park pointing out edible plants en-route.
The girls all carried small plastic tubs which they filled with natural treats including Hawthorn leaves, Clover flowers and leaves and Dandelion leaves to name a few.
On arrival at Shobrooke Park their hedgerow salads had Samphire and Watercress added to them which David had brought with him, and were dressed with a Elderflower dressing.
All the girls tried their salads with mixed responses. It was an enjoyable summer evening with all of the girls learning something new.
