CREDITON entered into the Britain in Bloom (BIB) South West in Bloom (SWIB) competition way back in February before the dreadful pandemic took effect.

Crediton Town Councillor Michael Szabo, the town’s BIB co-ordinator, explained that 24 organisations, including both town primary schools, entered into the It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) initiative which promotes voluntary community groups who are working towards cleaning and greening up their local environments.

He added: "Due to the pandemic the BIB did not take place this year but the organisers wanted to recognise how valuable the groups’ work is with certificates."

Mr Szabo added: "All of these groups’ entries will be rolled over into next year’s BIB entry."

He extended a big thank you to the following groups from Crediton who entered into the IYN initiative this year.

This included: Hillbrow Residential Care Home, Age Concern Crediton, Crediton Library Community Garden, Crediton Boniface Rotary Club, Landscore Primary School, Hayward’s Primary School, Friends of Crediton Railway, Friends of the Roundabout, Moffat Land Allotments, Green Fingers of Sandford, Jockey Hill Gardener, Friends of St Boniface Well, Lennard Road Gardeners, Save the House Martins in Westernlea, Friends of the Town Square, Crediton Bowling Club, Keep Crediton Clean, Westward Barbell Gardeners, Sustainable Crediton and Tesco Pollinator Project, Sustainable Crediton Pollinator Group, The Lions Club of Crediton, Station Tea Rooms, Turning Tides Another Root and Turning Tides Litter Pick.
