THE Unity Lodge (1332) of Freemasons which meets in Crediton recently invited eight locally-based organisations and charities to share in a grant of £3,500 which members had collected and wished to give in aid of the local community.

They chose: Motor Neurone Disease Association Exeter and East Devon Branch, Age Concern Crediton, First Crediton Scouts, Early Birds Nursery, Morchard Bishop Primary School, Unite Carers of Mid Devon, Crediton support group for Multiple Sclerosis and Army Benevolent Fund.

All were felt by the members of the Lodge to be worthy causes for them to support.

Members of the charities were invited to attend an informal evening where they were shown around the lodge building in Union Road, Crediton and invited to enjoy some light refreshments before being presented with their cheques by the Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire, Right Worshipful Brother Ian Kingsbury, who is also a member of Unity Lodge 1332.

The representatives of each charity, when receiving their cheques, thanked the members of the lodge and explained the work undertaken by the many volunteers and staff which go to make these very worthy causes.
