PREPARATIONS are well under way for the Crediton Folk Weekend, which will be held at various venues in the village of Cheriton Fitzpaine from Friday, April 16 to Sunday, April 18.
The event attracts artists and visitors from across the country.
Performers booked to date include: Cosmotheka's Dave Sealey, Huw Chidgey and Catherine Handley, Hanging Johnny, Andy Casserly, Pat Smith and Ned Clamp, Dave and Julia Taylor, Trefor and Vicki Williams, Neil Parker and Paul Watts, Fola and Malcolm Gurnham and Gill Gilsenan.
Others include: Nicola Clark, Bill McKinnon, Dave and Ann Reader, John Hare, John Morris, Alan Whitbread, Derek Burgess and Kitty Vernon, Ramblin Minor, Jim McAdams and Gilly Kemp.
Also attending will be story tellers Jane Nicholls and Janice Price.
Morris and Mummer sides attending will be: The Shakespeare Mummers, The Marie Lwyd, Lodestone Border, Harthill Tuppers, The Brown Paper Bag Mummers, Clocs Canton North West Clog Side, Cardiff Ladies and Cheddar Mummers.
An extra event at the 2010 Folk Weekend will be a Witches, Warlocks and Wizards Feast.
The event, billed as "An Afternoon Blow Out with A Dark Night Before Yer", will take place in the Half Moon function room from 3pm on Sunday, April 18, to round off the Folk Weekend.
If you intend going to the Feast, you are advised to book your meal in advance or as early as possible at the Folk Weekend. Fancy dress is preferable for the event.
The event will be held at the Ring of Bells and Half Moon public houses, the Methodist Chapel and St Matthew's Parish Church.
It will include concerts, singarounds, musician sessions, mumming and morris dancing.

The full weekend ticket is £14 per person and weekend camping vouchers are £6. Single event tickets are also available and some events are free of charge.
