FOR their annual outing this year, Crediton Flower Club chose to go to Burrow Farm Gardens.
Known as East Devon’s “secret garden”, it is situated in the idyllic countryside near Axminster. The 13-acre garden was created, and is still being developed, by Mary Benger and her family.
Members enjoyed strolling around the tranquil garden with Mary at hand to give advice when required.
The garden has a variety of different planting styles which complement the stunning rural views.
The woodland garden was created in an ancient Roman claypit and the most recent addition is the millennium garden which features ponds, waterfalls and a formal rill with mixed borders creating wonderful colour combinations.
After a visit to the nursery members relaxed in a very pretty tea room overlooking the garden where they were served delicious cream teas.
Gay Mullins thanked June Harry for organising the trip - a lovely day!
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, July 14 at 7.15pm in the Boniface Centre. Demonstrator will be Janet Dungworth on “Flowers for the soul to enjoy”.
Visitors and new members are very welcome.
