"FLOWERS for the Soul" was the title of the demonstration enjoyed by Crediton Flower Club members at its July meeting.

Janet Dungworth, an area demonstrator from Plymouth delighted her audience with a varied programme of arrangements.

She began with a beautifully pink toned design, with a Japanese feel, created in willow baskets she had made herself, then on to a "vegetative" design using grasses, seed heads and many variations of blue flowers, larkspur, brodea, scabious and thyme, all resulting in a delightfully country feel.

Bright contrasting colours featured next, with skilful use of blues, oranges and yellows.

Then, by sharp contrast, a stunning parallel arrangement in black and white, inspired by the "Mary Quant" look - Beautiful white avalanche roses stole the show.

Next came a very unusual half special container suspended from a round metal stand. Janet used beautifully various shades of green foliage with red carnations, roses, gerbera and anthurium as a stunning contrast.

For her finale she chose a tall glass vase as the container for an elegant flowing design with a green and white theme.

Mary Nunn proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the members for what had indeed been an inspiring evening - spirits had certainly been lifted by the innovative ideas, varied themes and beautiful flowers used.

The Club will meet again on Thursday, September 8, at 7.15pm in the Boniface Centre when a demonstration will be given by Jackie Piper.

Visitor and new members are welcome.
