WAS your great granddad or granddad at the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944?

To commemorate this date 75 years ago an event will be staged in Crediton Town Square, on Thursday, June 6, from about 4.30pm to 8pm.

Crediton Royal British Legion member John Shaw, explained: “To make the event a little more relevant to the people of Crediton and the Hamlets, a board with the names of those Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen, who took part in the landing will be produced.

“This should include both survivors and those who died.”

Mr Shaw said the event will feature Music and Songs from that era.

He is asking that people supply names and with which service that person was involved, Army, Navy, Air Force, etc, together with any other information that you know of.

He added: “This is not a precursor of Remembrance but a lively music and song evening in commemoration of the great victories that was won, and how we fought off a terrible invasion.”
