I READ in last week's Exmouth press that Devon County Council has committed £2m to a "facelift" for Exmouth.

If one adds this to well-publicised expenditure on libraries, roads and "facelifts" for towns such as Cullompton, Newton Abbott and others the total committed by Devon County Council for such projects in the last three months is over £3m.

If we compare this with Devon County Council's expenditure on alleviating the infamous air pollution of Crediton over the last 20, we find that our representatives have spent the interesting sum of Nothing.

But of course there is projected expenditure on a Western Link road for Crediton (partly because, in this case, of Tesco's contributions - so not all of this will come from the coffers of our council) .

We don't need to ask my neighbours on Exeter Road to comment on the longer term impact on them from the air pollution that this road will have do we?

Just to remind readers, currently there is often (on the council's own figures) air pollution here of over SIX TIMES the European upper limits.

But of course, as far as our representatives are concerned, Crediton doesn't count.
