THE Conyngham family’s "Come for Coffee" event held at their Crediton home during Fairtrade Fortnight on Wednesday, March 2, was a great success.

A total of 35 Traidcraft customers, neighbours, U3A walkers and Quakers mingled over coffee from a "Buffalo" and home-made biscuits and granola bars, raising almost £50 in donations for the charity, Traidcraft Exchange, and spending £282 in sales for Traidcraft goods.

"Serving coffee to this number was much easier than the old way," said Gerald Conyngham, "and nearly everyone wanted coffee."

Laura Conyngham said she was delighted with the buzz and support, as some people came through sleet and snow to be there.

"We dedicate ourselves to our coffee," says coffee farmer Guillermo Perez, "Fairtrade makes a big difference to us."

The Buffalo coffee percolator serves up to 100 cups and is available for rent by families, churches, event organisers or businesses. Please telephone Laura Conyngham on 01363 773000 or email: [email protected] .
