ALISON Whittall’s two choirs, Crediton Community Choir and Ploughcappella, joined forces with some members of Exe Valley Voices to sing the seven songs set as a sponsored singing challenge for “Sing for Water West 2018” during a joint choir concert held at Crediton Congregational Church on Saturday, June 23.

Jack Craigie and Archie Whittall collected donations at the door and Sandford Sings started off the evening.

Jonathan Ponting gave a moving and enlightening talk about the work of Wateraid and the plight of children who have to collect water from such distances for their families and therefore miss out on education which in turn creates a poverty trap.

Alison said that it was an “uplifting” evening and added that £840 was raised that night, which takes the total so far in aid of the charity to £2,152 on the fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/creditonplough .

She said that the money will help bring water sources to villages and also to schools in Rwanda.

She also thanked Claire Anstee and her two choirs for: “helping to make it a successful and vibrant evening of harmony and joy” and the church for the venue.
