LOCAL businesswoman, Bridget Pike of A & S Paving & Building Supplies in Crediton has raised more than £4,400 for charity after successfully taking on the challenge of The Great Wall of China.
Bridget told the Courier: “After many months of planning my challenge to China began with a drive to Heathrow, after 12 hours I arrived in Beijing and met my guide and the other ladies that were doing the trek.
“The first days of my experience on the Great Wall of China was climbing up an area known the Crouching Tiger. “This area is a lesser visited section as it requires hiking and climbing up the stone and rubble that dates back to 555AD.
“The trek took me up many steps and I reached many ‘summits’ and every time the scenery was breathtaking.”
