TWO Crediton boys aged just four and six are climbing the equivalent of Ben Nevis to support NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.

Leo Hargreaves (6) and his younger brother, Oscar (4) are climbing the stairs in their Crediton home to the height of Ben Nevis to raise money for the NHS, as well as being a part of their daily exercise indoors during lockdown.

They have already begun their challenge to climb the stairs 450 times to reach their target, counting each other’s stair climb.

The boys have raised £245 to-date for the NHS through the Association of NHS Charities.

Dad Neil, a Devon and Somerset Firefighter, said: "NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work right now in caring for COVID-19 patients."

HOW TO DONATE

He appealed for people to help his sons raise funds, adding: "Together, let’s show our respect and gratitude as the NHS staff work tirelessly in the face of the virus.

"It’s our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work.

"Leo raised more than £300 for his pre-school, Pippins, a few years ago by completing a 10-mile run challenge and we thought that the NHS was a worthy cause this time around."
