CREDITON and District University of the Third Age Group met for its highly popular Festive Lunch at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum, during the week before Christmas.

More than 50 members attended and enjoyed the excellent food, company and a quiz organised by Jane Innes. Congratulations to the winning team "the Doggy Bags". Huge thanks went to Ron and Sue for once again organising the lunch.

The committee would like more people to join the team working "behind the scenes". If you feel you could help, please contact Chair David Agasee on 01363 775698.

During the third week of every month the group holds an Open Meeting (non-members welcome) at the Boniface Centre (doors open at 9.30am for a 10.15am start), where the £1.50 entry fee includes a cup of coffee/tea, biscuit, a speaker and the chance to chat and learn more about the organisation.

The next Open Meeting is to be held on Wednesday, January 16 and will include a talk to be given by Tim Harrod entitled "A wellied sleuth digs the dirt on Dartmoor".

The meeting on Wednesday, February 20 will be Stewart Raine on "History of the British music hall".

The November meeting included a talk by Sir Neil Butterfield entitled "Crime and Punishment".

More than 130 audience members listened and took part in this highly amusing yet informative talk.

We were asked to imagine a careers advice session where the jobs discussed were illegal. Once again a fantastic talk enjoyed by all – thank you, Sir Neil.

A Happy New Year to all from the Crediton and District U3A.
