MEMBERS of the Crediton and Area Branch of Devon Senior Voice (DSV) watched a display of "Yogabalates" by Christina Jackson at its September meeting which was held at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre.

Christina, who is also a swimming teacher, explained that "Yogabalates" is a combination of yoga, pilates and balance exercises.

She said these are especially useful for the over 50s, who need to stay as supple as possible as well as avoid falls by practising balancing exercises.

Group member, Paula Kovacs, offered to demonstrate standing on one leg, with Christina standing close by should she need some assistance.

Chair, Carole Towler thanked Christina for her demonstration and invited her to stay for refreshments.

There followed the monthly committee meeting during which apologies were given for the absence of Treasurer, Ron Cuthbertson, who had been admitted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter with pneumonia following a broken rib which he acquired whilst on holiday in Barcelona. Warm wishes were sent by all for his speedy recovery.

The next meeting, on November 8 and from 2pm to 4pm, will have the Devon Chef Tim Harris talking about good nutrition for the over 50s.

All are welcome and entrance is free, but donations towards room hire and refreshments would be appreciated.
