WE cannot live in such a beautiful area as this and not be affected by the beauty. Or can we?

If you have your eyes fully open you will be absorbing the colours, seeing and ignoring the amount of fallen leaves gathering everywhere.

Or maybe the fallen leaves bother you, spoil your garden and cause you more hard work clearing them.

Are you seeing and benefitting? Or seeing and being annoyed?

Does this depend on your own creativity or not? Lots of questions. And “Creation Calling” focuses on this.

There is a potential within us all to be creative. I suggest that if we are creative we will be benefiting by this blessing because we are deeply or even spiritually affected by everything around us.

Our first session last Thursday of Creation Calling started by a chat in a cosy room downstairs at Crediton Methodist Church. Following coffee and beautiful cakes (by Stevie B’s) I shared a little information of ancient Christian history and how its popularity grew over the centuries, recognising that the Roman soldiers and their wives played a huge part in this.

This was followed by showing a bundle of different colour leaves and us letting the leaves “speak to us”.

If this sounds ridiculous, bear with me. My friend saw dead leaves, scrunched them until they disintegrated and spoke about death and regeneration.

I saw the nationalities of the world and focused on them and prayed. We then painted the leaves and made cards, some of us were happy with the results, some not.

Without getting very scriptural I would like to mention a comment by Jesus, “Open your eyes and see”.

Each session will contain a little Celtic Christianity, eventually we will look at a five-week course by Rev D Bagwell, with the ancients history, chat, art, music, poetry and prayer by me.

Creation Calling is open to anyone who would like to attend a a Creative Bible Study. The activities are optional. We will focus on God continuing to create each of us.

It will be held on alternate Thursdays from 10.30am to 12 noon. The next Creation Calling will be on Thursday, November 10, in the Newcomes Room - downstairs - entrance from the car park.

You are very welcome to attend. For more information contact 01363 775450.

There are a few sessions before Christmas, no charge, donations if you wish. By then we will have a few decorations that we have made. Everyone is welcome.
