A CRACKER record, sounds crackers, yes, 55 times. Last year the people of Zeal Monachorum set the standard for a cracker pulling record with 50, this year they beat that by five.

How many people does it take to pull a Christmas cracker brought much laughter at the Advent Fair held in the village hall, one of the main fundraisers for general funds for the parish church.

Stalls were full of all sorts of hand-made items including preserves, toys, cakes and everything had been donated.

Father Christmas put in an appearance, refreshments were good and the whole event was much enjoyed.

A total of £650 was raised for St Peter’s Church funds.
