SAINT Luke’s Church, Posbury Country Fair was held at Downes House, Crediton on Saturday, July 7.

Crediton Town Band played and Crediton Fire Station was in attendance.

There were a variety of stalls, including jewellery, plants, cakes, clothing and pottery. Children enjoyed having fun in a free play area.

The family dog show, kindly sponsored by St Boniface Veterinary Clinic, was busy with lots of entries and included 12 classes, including handsomest dog, prettiest bitch, best party trick, and best pair.

There was also a display of vintage tractors.

Julie Cole, one of the organisers, explained that it was a “beautiful day”, the crowds arriving early after the 11am opening, probably because of the football at 3pm.

“We were so pleased to have the Crediton Town Band playing and, through they were scheduled to play in front of the house they would have sweltered, so we found a lovely shady area for them to play, much to everyone’s delight as they could listen to the band, enjoy the barbecue nearby, together with a glass of Pimms or cider and watch or partake in the nearby family dog show.

“Exact figures are not yet available, but we are hoping to make in the region of £1,500, which is fantastic.

“None of this would be possible but for our hosts, Henry and Susan Parker, who supported this event and afforded us the use of their home and grounds. Thank you both so very much.”

Organiser Fiona Mortimer thanked everyone who attended, the committee members and helpers, which made the event a success.
