DO YOU have what it takes to be Crediton's new Town Crier?

Crediton Town Council is searching for someone to fulfil the role and is inviting people who are interested to apply.

The post will be on an annual basis with an option for renewal and the person selected will be provided with a costume and bell.

The Town Crier job description states that the person will be required to be clean, smart, sober, polite and jovial and above all must be able to project their voice.

Duties will include attending civic and other events, making announcements as required.

Applications must be received by Friday, June 5.

All applicants will be required to perform a cry to the public in the Town Square on Saturday, July 11 at 10am.

During that morning there will also be a Junior Town Crier competition for girls and boys aged between seven and 14.

There will be a prize for the best child performance on the day.
