THE Devon Guild of Craftsmen is offering young photographers a chance to step into the exhibiting world with a competition to inspire, educate and astound.

As a young photographer it is really important to start gaining exposure as soon as possible. The more people who see your work, the more likely you will be to gain a following and get work.

The Devon Guild is offering a unique opportunity to gain this, all for free!

If you are successful the Guild will print and mount your work for exhibiting, the printing is kindly being sponsored by Focal Point Imaging in Exeter.

During the exhibition around 15,000 view the mages at the Devon Guild headquarters at Bovey Tracey so it is an incredible opportunity to have your work seen.

The competition is open to 14 to 21 year-olds living in the South West.

Entrants are asked to capture the essence and process of creation; be it by a maker, artist, or of an element of nature.

It could be the mess, the mistakes or the progression to perfection… it’s your interpretation that counts.

There are no guidelines to what it can be, the Guild want you to open your imagination.

The exhibition will be held at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen in May 2019 and is being organised and curated by three young people; Emily Cartwright, Sam Fabian-Miller, and Lauren Wiig-Aspland, and supported by Devon Guild curatorial staff.

You can either submit three individual works or a triptych of works by December 31. In total 30 people from all the entries will be selected for exhibiting.

During the exhibition the public will be asked to vote for their top three pieces on display.

The prizes include a solo exhibition space at the Devon Guild headquarters, a two-hour masterclass in portrait or travel photography with photojournalist Suzy Bennett, plus more to be announced!

The competition can be entered for free at: www.crafts.org.uk on the home page or for more information email: [email protected] .
