LOCAL lady, Charlene Archer, who works for the Red Cross Crediton branch as a volunteer was driving along the busy Crediton High Street (A377) on Friday, August 13, when she spotted a wild baby rabbit hopping across the busy road.

It ran under a parked car outside the Red Cross shop. Shop manager Wendy Archer and Assistant Manager Gill Pearn went out to try and catch it.

Wendy said: “It caused quite a stir and lots of people were trying to help.

“It was really worrying because the bunny kept running back-and-forth across the road.

“Then it went into Boots and hid under a shelf where a customer, a kind young man, managed to catch it.

“The antique centre next door kindly provided me with a cardboard box to put it in to keep it safe.”

Charlene then took the baby rabbit and released it on the outskirts of the town where it happily hopped away along the hedgerow.
