A COMEDY evening held at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum, in aid of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, was a great success.

More than 150 people were entertained by Devonian comedian Tank Sherman, who “went down a storm”.

The evening, on Thursday, April 7, was filled with laughs, a great atmosphere and great food.

Local beef was supplied from Jim Stephens of Sandford and A J Cox butchers, of Crediton and the Waie Inn put on a fantastic spread of roast potatoes and salad.

Gemma Stephens, from RABI, said: “The evening raised a staggering £1,127 for the charity which supports farming families in times of need.
