AT the end of The Great War (1914-1918), a public subscription was set up to pay for a fitting memorial to those men from Coldridge parish who had died in the fighting.

Sufficient funds were raised to install a clock on St Matthew’s Church tower.

To commemorate the centenary of this clock, Coldridge Parish Council, in association with St Matthew’s Church Parochial Church Council, Dave Clarke and Luke Ridge will give a talk about the clock and Ivan Krisnik will present the information he has found out about the individuals commemorated.

The event will take place in Coldridge Parish Church from 3pm on Saturday, November 16.

There will be reprints of local newspaper articles of the time, pictures of the clock, and possibly a video.

Light refreshments will be available, and all are welcome to attend this event, which will last about an hour.
