FORMED at the beginning of this year, Bow Women’s Institute showed off what its members could do when they held a coffee morning in the village hall which raised £320 for funds.
Each member had made something for the morning - cakes, pasties, preserves and more plus hand made items for the table top sale.
There was also produce from the garden, vegetables and rhubarb, as well as a table top sale.
President, Dinah Pritchett-Farrell, explained that funds raised would go towards developing skills in the group at Denman College, the WI college in Oxford.
Dinah added: “It is lovely we have so many young Mums with babies in the WI here, we are having a ball. It is about sharing skills and having fun.
“The main thing is we have a laugh and can teach each other.” There are currently 31 members and more are always welcome.
Meetings are on the second Tuesday evening of each month. The secretary is Maria Kearney, treasurer is Lin Clapson with Gill Nicks as assistant treasurer.
On show was Bow’s entry in the Spring Council meeting for a Christmas arrangement.
Vicky Turner did the exhibit for Bow using mainly holly, ivy and fir, winning third place in class for the Molly Nosworthy trophy.
Among the activities for children that morning was a story reading corner with North Tawton WI member Sue Parkes’ latest book about Garden Folk.
Sue had knitted all the characters in the book and they were at the coffee morning for children to play with.
