AT the recent CODS’ AGM a cheque for £1,150 was presented by President, Carol Stoyle and Chairman, Steph Morgan to Lily Keenor and Josh Sanders who accepted it on behalf of the charity, Balloons.
Every year CODS asks its audiences to support its “Charity of the Year” by donating as they leave its productions.
The hope is that the more an audience has enjoyed their evenings entertainment the more generous they will be in their support and this year this was most certainly the case.
CODS would like to thank their audiences for their very generous donations after “Carousel”, “Sounds of the Sixties”, “Key for Two” and “Aladdin and His Magical Lamp”.
Lily had brought the charity to the attention of CODS membership and we felt it a very worthy organisation to support not only because any money donated is used in the local area but also for all the good work it does. Balloons is probably not that well-known.
The mission of the charity is to support bereaved children and young people in our area when someone significant in their lives dies. It also works alongside their families and the professionals who care for them to further enhance the support they receive. Should anyone wish to know more about the charity then log on to the website: www.balloonscharity.co.uk .
AWARD
At the AGM Gillian Mackenzie was made an Honorary Life Member for her continued support to CODS. Although not seen quite so much treading the boards due to her karate commitments, Gill has continued on the committee and is currently Vice-Chairman.
Along with the many shows, concerts and plays that Gill has appeared in she was instrumental in guiding CODS through its conversion to a Company Limited by Guarantee back in 2015 which put in place stringent safeguards for CODS membership which had not been in place before.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Watch this space! April 18 to April 22, 2022 sees CODS performing “The Sound of Music”.
There will be a need for two sets of seven children with ages ranging from 5/6 up to 19 and the journey will be starting on the first Wednesday in November.
If any parent wants to register an interest for their child/children then either do so via our website: www.codsonline.com or email: [email protected] .
Auditions for those interested will be held on the first Sunday in December and the lucky ones chosen will then have weekly rehearsals on a Wednesday until nearer the start of the show when the commitment will increase slightly. More details of the first meeting will be published in the “Courier” in two or three weeks time.
