AT Crediton Methodist Church Paul Violet, Preacher from Exeter led the service on Sunday, November 1, All Saints Day. His theme was "It’s in the Genes".

The family challenge was taken up by 10 people who had sent in photographs of clocks – in response to the clocks going back last Sunday, October 23.

There were photographs of clocks in Vancouver, Sydney, Prague, and a sundial here in Crediton. There was also the photo of a child’s tummy as she said her body clock told her it was time to eat.

Paul spoke about Adam and Eve who were created by God and how their sons, Cain and Abel made their offerings as the first harvest festival. There was friction in the family and Cain felt that Abel was God’s favourite – although we know that God does not have favourites. Cain murdered his brother.

Sin is a barrier between God and humankind. We cannot remove the barrier – only God can do that.

Adam and Eve had a third son, Seth. In later chapters of Genesis we read the direct ancestry from Seth to Jesus. Jesus, the Messiah, came to take away the barrier of sin when He died on the cross.

As from this week the church will be closed again due to the lockdown announced this week.
