AS I understand it, it’s cheaper to patch a pothole three or four times, than to repair it properly, but the patches don’t last long.

The pothole near Tedburn St Mary, just below Beechdown Farm covers the full width of the road as the photograph, taken on February 26 shows.

The pothole was first reported to Devon County Council around January 22.

On January 30, the pothole was partially filled with tarmac and just seven days later, Monday, February 5, all the tarmac was gone.

This well-used route which leads to the dual carriageway is now virtually impassable!

What I think Devon County Council should do to solve the problem is to split the county into four sections, put a practical road foreman in charge of each section and give him a freehand, with two teams of men a lorry, tractor and two traffic control boards and clear all the ditches and gulleys - then we would not have any POTHOLES!
