THE 756th Chulmleigh Old Fair included most of the well-known and loved traditional events, with just a few rained off - including the Bikhana and horse show.

The Fair got off to a fine start with the family service, crowning of the Fair Queen, money scramble and sports and entertainment.

There was art, music, a flower festival, dog show, flowers and produce show and golf challenge.

The wet weather put a damper on the crafts and country market and sheep show but they still went ahead.

There were sports, races, and much more, ensuring the community got together and had a really good time.

Mike Hiscock, local builder and former chief of the Fire Brigade in Chulmleigh, performed the "official opening" of the Fair by raising the white glove, the symbol of King Henry III's white gauntlet.

His wife, Sue Hiscock, then crowned Rebecca Harrison the 2009 Fair Queen.

Fair committee member, Sylvia Gilson, said that anyone with connections to Chulmleigh always goes to the town specifically for the Fair.

Chawleigh WI were the winners of the best-dressed stall with their "Wild Indians" theme.
