FOLLOWING the success of last year's Christmas Fayre, Crediton town square will once again be alive and buzzing with festive spirit this December, during an afternoon and evening of carols, street theatre and live music performances organised by volunteers from Crediton Arts Centre and Crediton Rural Arts and Music Project (CRAMP).
The event takes place at the square in Market Street on Saturday, December 12, from 2pm to 5pm. Local groups on the programme include: Landscore Primary School Singers; Crediton World Music Choir; the Brown Paper Bag Theatre Company; Great Western Morris; QECC Jazz Band; and good-time swing/jazz/blues trio, "Lips, Fingers 'n' Thumbs".
Crediton Town Council have again contributed £300 towards the cost of putting on the event. The square will be decorated with Christmas trees and lights, and a range of delicacies, hot food and beverages will be available from regular Farmers Market traders and The Green House.
The arts and crafts gift stalls will be offering seasonal wares, and there are still a few pitches available for any local traders or individuals who are interested.
The organisers are promising a real festive atmosphere in the square. Marie Belsten (CRAMP) said: "The aim is to bring the whole community together to celebrate the festive period." She also added that both CRAMP and Crediton Arts Centre are very grateful for the voluntary services of local people, including sound engineers, Chris Martin and Paul Bateman and Jo Ward, who will once again be erecting the Christmas tree and lighting in the square.
Crediton Farmers' Market traders are also kindly donating a number of stalls for use during the event.
