ON Sunday, October 18, 35 children from Bow Primary School, aged from six to 11 years, took part in the Great West Run’s School Challenge in Exeter.

The children had been running one or two miles per week in an attempt to complete 12 miles of the half-marathon.

On Sunday they ran their last mile making the total of 13 miles.

All the children enjoyed the challenge and were supported by teacher Mrs Orchard, who ran after school and lunchtime clubs to enable the children to take part in the challenge.

Mrs Orchard said: “The goal was not only to have run 13 miles, but to raise money for The Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

“So far the children have raised more than £800 for the charity, which is a valuable asset to our small, isolated villages in times of need.

“As one of the smaller schools taking part in the challenge it is a true testament of the children’s dedication to the task that they have raised such a fantastic amount of money.

“All the children who have taken part should feel very proud of themselves.”
