AFTER his first appearance at Crediton Library 10 years ago, Dan the Hat returned to run a Circus Skills Workshop for children at Newcombes Meadow, Crediton.

The workshop formed part of the Record Breakers Summer Reading Challenge 2015 run by Devon Libraries and The Reading Agency charity.

The annual challenge is aimed at children aged from four to 14 years, who read six or more library books, of their choice, during the summer holidays. There are collectable incentives and rewards, plus a certificate or medal for every child who completes the challenge.

A number of events have taken place during the challenge including a pledging session, treasure hunt, code breaking session badge making and circus skills.

During the Circus Skills Workshop with Dan the Hat, children and accompanying adults had the opportunity to learn a variety of skills including juggling, plate spinning, Diabolos and tricks with hats.

Dan was impressed and said: “All the children are very talented and they learned very quickly.”
