GREAT fun was had on the morning of Monday, August 7, at Crediton Library.

A total of 25 children played carpet bowls inside the library.

Library Supervisor, Sue Lee said: “Many thanks to Paul from the ‘The Elephant on the Green’ for bringing the carpet and bowls and running the activity.

“The children also made and decorated a ball and triangle game.

“They then tried to see how many flips it took to get the ball through the hole in the triangle.”

This event is part of the library’s Summer Reading Challenge “Ready, Set, Read!” programme of activities.

The Reading Agency devises a new reading challenge each year. Children can pick up their free pack from the library and collect stickers for the books they read.

When they have read six books they receive a medal and certificate and are entered into the prize draw.

Sue added: “Thanks to the many organisations and businesses who have provided prizes.

“Locally, these include Tesco, Morrisons, Bernaville Nurseries, The Bookery, Paint Pots of Devon, Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, Mel’s Diner, Adams Home Hardware and Creedy Kitchen.”
