MANY local schools in the Crediton area celebrated World Book Day later this year due to the snow closing many schools and nurseries on March 1.

World Book Day is an international, annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading and is usually held on the first Thursday in March.

The day also provides an ideal opportunity for children and adults to dress-up as their favourite book characters.

One of the local pre-schools to celebrate World book Day was Pippins Pre-school and Nursery in Crediton, where children and staff enjoyed dressing-up and reading lots of stories including "Little Red Riding Hood."
