CHERITON Fitzpaine Garden Club held a very successful summer show, with the weather warm enough for people to take their tea and cake outdoors at tables set up in the marquee.

Inside the hall was filled with flowers, vegetables and fruit. The Floral Arrangement Class alone had 48 entries, including the children’s work.

A Floral Art Workshop had been held for the children on the Thursday before the show.

A plant stall attracted buyers in the garden, where visitors were also able to admire the garden maintained by volunteers, with a Rose newly-planted in memory of the late Maralyn Kempson.

This was the last show at which Paula Mossman was the Chairman, and it is thanks to her considerable hard work and personality, that the Club now has 58 members.

We are so fortunate also to have had Ann Nixon as Show Secretary. Without her hard work there would not be a Show.

Our next monthly meeting will be on Thursday, September 21 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall, when David Usher will talk to us about “The Answer Lies in the Soil”.
