A CHARITY auction will be held in Spreyton Village Hall on Saturday, September 30, in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the restoration appeal being run by Church of St Michael, Spreyton.
A range of items have already been donated for the auction by local individuals and businesses but the organisers hope that more people will search their cupboards and attics for heirlooms, antiques and neglected objects no longer needed, or make an offer of skilled services for the auction.
Tickets to attend the auction are priced at £10 per person and the cost includes a two-course supper (please take along your own drinks).
John Colpoys Wood, the well-known “Dartmoor Auctioneer” will host the auction, which is being organised by the local community in association with Spreyton Parish Church.
Tickets are now on sale through Spreyton Village Shop, or send an SAE and cheque (payable to “Spreyton PCC”) to Gill Whitaker, Puddicombe Park, Spreyton, EX17 5AR (telephone 01363 82866). Please order your tickets in advance to assist with catering.
Also, please contact Gill on the above number by Friday, September 22 with offers of auction items.
Ken Whitaker, church secretary, said: “Devon Air Ambulance Trust celebrates 25 years of service on September 9 and it is currently working with communities across Devon to create a network of pre-surveyed floodlit landing sites to extend flying operations into the hours of darkness.
“Spreyton Parish will soon have such a helipad, and the auction will raise money for the air ambulance trust’s central funds in recognition and appreciation of this development.
“The other beneficiary of the auction, Spreyton Parish Church, urgently needs financial help to renew and update its electrical installation.”
